ACTIVITIES
THE KINGSTON KAYAK FESTIVAL AND OUTDOOR SHOW
Saturday June 14, 2008. Hours 10 AM till 4 PM. Kingston Point Beach, Delaware Avenue, Kingston NY 12401

 

Basic Kayak Instruction with Steve Wycoff of Catskill Kayak Instruction

10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm at the Beach

Basic Instruction on familiarizing your self with a kayak, developing an efficient paddle stroke and remaining safe on the water.

 

Kayak Nature Tour with Forsyth Nature Center

11:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm at the Beach

Guided kayak nature tour on the Hudson River with Steve Noble from The Forsyth Nature Center. All kayaks, paddles and pfds provided. Basic instruction will take place 30 minutes before the tour. There’s limited space so get there early!

 

NYS DEC Paddle Craft Safety Check with Ro Woodard

All day at the DEC booth in the Eco Pioneer Tent

Bring your kayak and gear for a safety inspection. All kayaks that pass will receive a free NYS inspection decal. Safety gear will be available at the beach.  Click Here  to download the safety check list (pdf file)

 

Boaters Safety Course with John Kwak of The Mid Hudson Chapter Power Squadron

Werner Paddle Stroke Clinic

Improve your technique and learn what style of paddle is best for you from Werner Paddle’s expert Danny Mongo. 

 

Shari Aber author of A Kayaker’s Guide to the Hudson River Valley

Discuss the many fabulous places to paddle in the Hudson Valley. While you’re there, pick up a copy of her book and get a personal autograph!

 

Kayaking Wet Exit & Recovery with Steve Wycoff, Catskill Kayak Instruction

12:30pm at the Beach

Instructional course on performing a wet exit and re-entry with a kayak.

The Ease of the Greenland Roll with Ed Lamon, Qajaq USA

1:30pm at the Beach

Ed will demonstrate and hopefully get a few volunteers in the water to see the ease of learning to roll the traditional way. DVD’s will be available.

 

Scott Gibson, Eco Pioneer 

All seminars and exhibits will be held in the EcoPioneer Tent- The World's first Solar and Wind Powered Shelter. Scott will be available all day to answer questions on solor and wind power.

 

Solar Punch

Solar Punch will be providing solar powered music with a sun type theme

 

Channel 23 Public Access TV will be filming the event
